,No one here should discuss sorority reputations, and certainly not name names, because frankly with over 200 girls in each house you really cant pigeonhole them that way. I am at a TX college and top tier is Kappa, Theta and Pi Phi. axid will always be bottom, nuf said. Then it's between Tri-Delt, Theta, and DG. "They will always be bottom" is what everyone said about APhi 15-18 years ago when they were literally stuck in a hole that was lower than AXiD! You have got to be kidding. They literally did not have any freshmen come to pref night who had Chi O and Zeta left. The University of Texas at Austin is home to more than 65 national fraternity and sorority chapters. This stereotype is, of course, hotly disputed by the Zetas themselves. . They are at orientation and are attending the Frat parties and they are watching you. They are leaders. That one looks good to me. I'm rushing KD in the fall. No one wants to say it because they have a strong tradition and are nice girls and don't really appear to be struggling for numbers or anything. Agree with ^ I will be a new student next year and wanna rush, and am curious about the sororities and what the chapters are like here. I don't think they've ever missed quota, but every year since my niece started HS 3 years ago, I look at the PC photos and get more concerned. I'm worried about my chapter. At our school they are mostly blonde cutesy girls, but they are big in to their philanthropy. For instance, nationally ChiO is "Make-A-Wish" and DG is "Service for Sight." While some have strong national cultures across all chapters, there are bound to be differences from one university or college to another. Most houses will already have an idea of girls they like before rush even starts.

Chi o- "bible beaters"- love The Lord, academics is important, Pi Phis (top)- love their Lilly and pearls with a dash of vodka, while Kappas (top) just love their vodka (and are usually the more 'brunette' house with rich girls), alpha phi - idgaf girls, very popular among the frats, easy DZ..nuff said, tri-delts (tri hards) usually pretty top - your camp counselor kinda gals, zetas (top) the on campus barbies, theta---jocks - so on with that. ,My biggest piece of advice is to go into recruitment at UT with an OPEN MINDI cannot stress this enoughplease try not to listen to other girls and thier opinions of the houses, especially if they are negative. And if you think you need to be in a sorority to "be somebody" you need therapy. There is a wide variety, culturally, from one sorority to another. They used to be seen as a step above KD and ADPi, but theyve been slipping with their PCs over the last few years. This description may be related to two stereotypes about them: Unfortunately, this reputation has led most other sororities on some campuses to consider them lower-tier. Chi O is probably the most well-known sorority, especially in the South, and is a top-tier at many of those schools, not nationally. The national organization stresses "Christian ideals." Chapters are generally considered to be well-organized. Sisterhood is not a competition!! Connections not necessary but people usually have them. But be very careful not to fall in love with anyone specifically. Sweeping generalizations all around. These chapters are under the authority of one of UT Austin's seven Greek council communities, Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Latino Pan-Hellenic Council, Texas Asian Pan-Hellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, United Greek Council and University Panhellenic Council. Generally everywhere I see pictures of Pi Phi's (top tier) and Tri Delts as having the most consistently beautiful members of the sororities. Out of the blue last week my son told us that he was accepted off the waitlist and that TCU was now his first choice. To be honest, any house at UT would be a great sorority experience with attractive, smart girls. Nice enough girls, but just kinda there. Every sorority has different traits from chapter to chapter. Girls that drop rather than be in these houses are making a big mistake. Chi O id top tier there also. What I have learned is that we all have our pre-conceived notions about what sororities are and most of it is crap. Some consider them the quintessential sorority, in both a good and a bad way. Dont have to be pretty to get in. The Kappa chapter was shut down for drugs and hazing at Rollins and OSU, and dancing topless at SMU on bid day? It was one of the first sororities founded. Not one person do I hear that they hate pi Phis. Agreed on everything except AXO. One consistent observation is that KDs are obsessed with popularity. Also remember that each sorority is special in their own way and just because you arent in the same chapter as your friend or someone else doesnt mean you cant be friends or be supportive of their chapter. ,Greek life at UT has been wonderful for my daughter, but she had to go in with an open mind and keep it. One of the "top" sororities in this write-up just had to shut down their chapter, and one of the "mid-tier" sororities has so many top women that it's almost embarrassing to the other sororities on campus. Kappa Delta (KD) is considered an up-and-coming sorority, one that has risen to the top-tier in terms of reputation in recent decades. ALL have very rich girls and fake girls. Many consider them obsessed with their looks and say they have a reputation for body image issues. Those young ladies are awesome. plan on rushing and MEET THE GIRLS. Nice girls tho who are looking for a sisterhood. Zeta I went DG, (slu++y/partners) reputation but undeserved, except for 30-40%. They actually drop out of recruitment than pledge a bottom tier sorority, like kappa Kappa Gamma or DZ. If KD is a top-tier and that is the South only. what kind of people you want to have as mentors and long-life friends, partly by reputation, but mostly by YOUR OWN GUT FEELINGS! I know for a fact a lot of Zeta's pledge class from last year hangs with the top frats, including FIJI and RHO and all the other Big Six sororities. If you pledge a sorority and then aren't sure it's right for you, make your decision before the initiation process. If you want the basics (i.e. You said nice things about every chapter just to forget dg so you could say something rude. They take sisterhood seriously and try not to get caught up in drama, which might lead to the sentiment that they're aloof and snobbish. Kappa Kappa Gamma (Kappas) are known for being rich girls. Nice girls with a strong sisterhood. Not saying that they were more selective. THERE IS NOT A BAD HOUSE AT UTplease dont drink the kool aide They all have mixers with fraternities, date parties, formals, etc. We are prettier, wealthier, and #1!
