I love Ark and Atlas but their common issue is their mapper, yeah it looks like laziness for me too, some animal spawns under the map or inside mountains they never fixed it in Ark and they copying the same great work into Atlas, the same comes with resource spawns double or triple trees inside one tree, they amount of meshes placed in some places is just pure laziness.
